Sierra E. Fleenor currently works as Director of College Access and Success for the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Raised in the Rocky Mountains of southern Colorado, she graduated from Colorado College with a B.A. in Religion. She then worked at Colorado College in Student Life for two years, where she received the Nelson-Cisneros Award in recognition for her work to support diversity. Sierra continued her studies at Harvard Divinity School, where she completed her Master’s in Theological Studies. She served as Research Analyst and Project Manager at the Colorado Department of Higher Education, working primarily on implementing Colorado’s reverse transfer initiative, a program that grants Associate’s degrees to qualified transfer students retroactively. Most recently, Sierra took over program management and direction of the Colorado Challenge and works to implement strategies for student success for low-income, first-generation college students. Sierra also volunteers at Judi’s House, a non-profit in Denver that serves students who are grieving the loss of a special person, frequently a parent or a sibling. Sierra is an active writer who maintains two blogs and is working on publishing a novel.
