Thomas Miller is a staff attorney at Brooklyn Legal Services where he represents low-income tenants and works to defend housing rights for all. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Washington State. He is a 2016 graduate of the University of Washington School of Law, where he was a Gates Public Service Law Scholar. As a law student he interned at the ACLU of Northern California and the Brennan Center for Justice, and participated in the International Human Rights Clinic. He was also an articles editor for Washington Law Review and a member of the Thomas Tang National Moot Court Team. Before law school Thomas worked as Editorial Director at the Breakthrough Institute, a national public policy think tank in Oakland, California, and as a journalist in Cambodia, at the Phnom Penh Post. His reporting has also appeared in Foreign Policy, on NPR's Snap Judgment, and in the Bangkok Post. Thomas also worked on the successful 2009–10 effort to pass national health care reform, as campaign manager for a state legislative race in Washington State, and for the American Academy in Berlin. He has received fellowships from Princeton in Asia, Humanity in Action, and the Public Policy and International Affairs program. Born and raised in Seattle, Thomas graduated from Whitman College with degrees in Rhetoric and Film Studies and Politics.
