Sam is pursuing his JD at Berkeley Law School in his quest to become the most effective advocate of educational equity he can be. Based on his experiences applying for over 80 and winning more than 20 scholarships and fellowships between high school, college, and graduate school, Sam has supported students of all ages in their own application efforts for more than a decade. After participating in the HIA Berlin Program in 2008, Sam graduated with a BA in International Studies from the University of Washington-Seattle in 2010 and spent the 2010-2011 academic year in Berlin, Germany, as a U.S. Student Fulbright Scholar, researching the relationship between access to higher education and social mobility. In 2014, Sam completed his MA in Education Policy at Teachers College, Columbia University, after which he worked as a graduate policy research intern at the Institute for Higher Education Policy in Washington, D.C. Most recently, Sam served as the National Director of Graduate and Fellowship Programs for The Posse Foundation in New York.
