Bio:

Grew up in China, Jianhang completed his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in global studies from Binghamton University. He has a deep interest in studying comparative politics with a focus on China, U.S., and human rights issues. In college, he was a research assistant for a human rights course and researched global labor laws to understand how strong unions affect reasonable working hours. He also studied abroad in Peru and Chile, thereby broadening his perspectives on culture and diversity. He is passionate about helping immigrants through public services and previously worked at the Office of Congresswoman Nydia M. Velazquez as a community liaison and caseworker. Currently, he is an AmeriCorps member at the Office of Refugee and Immigrant Affairs in the Department of Social Services where he has helped hundreds of immigrants gain U.S. citizenship. After AmeriCorps, he plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in International Studies.
