David Bargueno

David Bargueño is a U.S. diplomat. He began his assignment as Political Officer in Karachi, Pakistan in May 2017. He previously served as Vice Consul in São Paulo, Brazil (2014-2016) and as Foreign Affairs Officer in the Secretary’s Office of Global Food Security in Washington, D.C. (2012-2014). Other short-term assignments include Mozambique, Vietnam, and Peru. His doctoral research at King’s College, London focuses on how governance affects sustainable development in Brazil, South Africa, and India. His native language is Spanish, and he also speaks Portuguese, French, and Zulu. David received degrees from the Yale Graduate School and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton.
