Sara Sudetic was born in Belgrade during the Yugoslav wars. Growing up in a tense geopolitical context fuelled her ambition to contribute to the promotion of human and minority rights through law and robust policy solutions. Now a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University (Beijing), Sara also holds a Master’s degree in Nationalism Studies and Minority Rights from Central European University (Budapest) and a Bachelor degree in War Studies and History from King’s College London. In the past year, she was a Lantos-Humanity in Action Fellow in charge of foreign affairs, immigration, refugee and human rights issues for Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN05). She also founded and led the Refugee Aid Initiative, an international conference connecting humanitarian organizations tackling the Mediterranean refugee crisis. Passionate about justice, she has worked on human and civil rights issues in the United States, China, India and the European Union at grassroots, academic and policy levels. Her work as a freelance writer has appeared in Le Monde (Paris), The Heptagon Post (London), and Tehelka (New Delhi).
