Fryda Guedes

Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, Florida, Fryda Guedes is a graduating senior at Yale University with a major in Political Science. During her time at Yale, she led several anti-genocide awareness and educational initiatives through Yale's Genocide Action Project. She also organized microfinance development trips to Honduras with Global Brigades. For fun, Fryda played music and coordinated concerts at New Haven nursing homes and she performed with Sabrosura, Yale's Latin Dance Team, and UNITY, Yale's Korean Drumming Troup. In the summer, Fryda has studied public health and conducted related research in Haiti and India. Last summer, she helped to provide legal assistance to immigration detainees in Miami. After graduation, she plans to work as an immigration and minority activist and hopes to obtain both a JD and MPH degree. In her spare time, Fryda draws, dances, hikes, collects trinkets, and makes covers of her favorite songs.
