Yanée Ferrari

Born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and raised in East Harlem, Manhattan, Yanée Ferrari is a first generation college student at Vassar College. She is a rising senior studying Sociology with an emphasis on identity politics and social stratification. She is also pursuing minors in both Educational and Women Studies. She has held leadership positions in a variety of identity-based student activist organizations. Currently, she is the president for Act Out!, a group that advocates for LGBTQ rights by integrating art, activism and performance. She is also a facilitator and co-founder of the Vassar College Dialogue Center, a student-led space created to host and sustain dialogues that address issues of difference in the Vassar community. She hopes to become a community educator for queer youth of color, using education as a form of activism and praxis. Yanée currently plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Feminist and Queer Studies. She enjoys dancing and yoga, particularly as a form of re-embodiment and community-building.
