Melissa attends Franklin & Marshall College, where she majors in Sociology and minor in Gender Studies. She is a Gates Millennium Scholar and Posse Foundation Scholar. This past summer she studied at the Advanced Studies in England program, In Bath, England. Last semester, she was in Barcelona, Spain for four months in a Liberal Arts and Business program. While abroad, she interned at working to empower nonprofit organizations all around the world. She traveled to Israel to meet with religious and political leaders to help debunk misconceptions and establish ways to help Israeli people from the US. This past spring break, she traveled to Honduras on a medical mission trip providing food and medical exams to rural and impoverished sectors of Honduras. She has interned with the National Park Service for four years, this year as their Public Relations intern, managing social Media for the National Parks of New York Harbor. She has acted as mentor and facilitator for the Nation Park Service’s Youth Conservation Corps and as an English teacher for Franklin & Marshall’s ESL program. She recently served her last term as the co-president of S.I.S.T.E.R.S, an organization that founded P.E.A.R.L, a Girls Club in Lancaster, PA. She worked as a Youth Group Leader at Holy Cross Church for three years and acted as an assistant teacher for their Catholic weekend school.
