Fatima El Sayed graduated from Berlin in 2012 with a degree in Arabic Studies. She focused on Modern Arabic Literature and Middle East Politics. Fatima spent a year abroad in Egypt and Syria studying Arabic. In 2010 she attended a Fulbright Summer School in the US where she got in touch with American lifestyle and culture for the first time. Fatima is an active member in the Muslim Youth Association of Germany since 2008, where she supervises youth groups and organizes leisure activities as well as interreligious events. She has also volunteered in the "HelferInnenkreis" caring for disabled children. She also worked as a cultural adviser at the Technical University of Berlin assisting and supporting Iraqi students and lecturers. Fatima recently took part in a student's project which conducted workshops in well known universities of Cairo dealing with subjects like youth participation, democracy and media diversity aiming to motivate and strengthen young Egyptians. She recently completed an internship at the organization Inssan where she worked on discrimination.
