Bio:

Samuel Yates is a 2013 graduate of Trinity College Dublin, where he received his M.Phil in Theatre and Performance Studies as a George J. Mitchell Scholar. His dissertation examined contemporary documentary performance exploring linkages between femininity and queerness in Irish culture. He received his B.A. in English Literature and Dramatic Arts from Centre College (2011), where he researched socio-cultural construction of 'fringe identities' and the Social Other onstage as a John C. Young Scholar. He has served as a dramaturg, playwright, and director for professional and university theatre productions, including work with the Abbey Theatre Amharclann na Mainistreach, The Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center, The Samuel Beckett Centre, and New Harmony Theatre. Samuel is currently a Ph.D. student in the English department at George Washington University, where he researches representations and performances of disability in contemporary drama and musical theatre, and a faculty member for the West Virginia Governor's Honors Academy.
