Samira Sakhi

Samira Sakhi was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, and came to the Netherlands as a political refugee in 1996. Currently she is pursuing her second masters at Maastricht University. Samira is specializing in International Law (Human Rights Law and gender) and Dutch Law (administrative law and labour law). In 2011, Samira Sakhi spent two months in Afghanistan conducting research on UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. In the same year, she was nominated on behalf of Maastricht University for the ECHO (Expertise Center immigrants Higher Education) Award. Samira recently completed an internship at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Division for Gender Equality, and wrote her first publication together with Prof. Fons Coomans. At the moment she is a member of the Human Rights Clinic 2013 under the supervision of Prof. Cees Flinterman.
