Bio:

Amanda Shelton is currently a law student at Georgetown University Law Center. As an undergraduate, she served as the Senate Speaker of the Missouri Students Association, leading a body of sixty members and representing the interests of over 24,000 students. She was appointed to the Missouri Community Service Commission by the Governor of Missouri in 2009, where she served as Vice-Chair of the Legislative Education Committee. After finishing her degree while interning with the Sustainable Security and Peacebuilding Initiative at the Center for American Progress, where she studied national security, foreign aid reform, and sustainable development, she worked briefly in government relations before starting law school. At Georgetown, she was selected to participate in the Human Rights Associates Program, and she currently serves on the Georgetown Human Rights Advocacy and Fact-Finding Committees. She is Vice President-Elect of Georgetown Human Rights Action/Amnesty International (Co-Director of Advocacy), and she recently traveled to Alabama to work on pressing human rights issues for minorities. Amanda holds a BA in International Studies, Emphasis in Peace Studies, from the University of Missouri and is a native of Southwest Missouri.
