Netherlands Netherlands 2012

Hans Schepers received a bachelor's degree in Psychology at the RIjksunversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands. In 2011, he spent a semester studying in the United States. He is currently enrolled in the Research Master programme of Behavioural and Social Sciences, with a specialisation in social psychology and philosophy of science. Hans' research looks at the ways in which meritocratic, equality-based thinking can foster inequality, and how society uses labels and categories to create exclusionary and inclusionary 'kinds' of people. In addition, he is participating in an academic programme about how 'societally engaged leadership' can make a difference in the world, and is part of a small student discussion group interested in how science should impact people's everyday lives.
