Bio:

Janina Pescinski is a Junior Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute on Globalization, Culture and Mobility, contributing to the program on Female Agency, Mobility and Sociocultural Change. Prior joining UNU, Janina was a research consultant on West Africa with Amnesty International. She holds a Master's degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from the Institute d´études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), where she wrote her thesis on transnational human rights activism, based on a case study of the Guinean diaspora in Paris. Janina earned her BA Summa Cum Laude Cultural Anthropology and French from Rutgers University in 2011. During her summers, Janina has studied Arabic in Morocco (2009), worked as a public diplomacy intern at the US Embassy in Niger (2010), and worked as a policy intern at the Save Darfur Coalition/Genocide Intervention Network in Washington, D.C. (2011). Her research interests include migration, human rights, diaspora networks, and civil society, using an interdisciplinary approach.
