HIA Program:

France France 2012

Vanessa Gally gratuated suma cum laude in Sociology in 2011. She wrote her thesis about "links, tensions and identity construction in the Africans' and Caribbeans' associations network." She was eager to delve into the question of "black identity" and to find theoretical, historical, and social answers to her investigations. In spite of her academic skills, she perceives herself as a field worker. She has always been involved in associations and committed to locals actors. In 2008, she spent one year in Italy for her European Voluntary Service, where she participated in intercultural activities and reflected about migration issues. Now she would like to set up an original project aimed at developing a large-scale discussion of social issues from the standpoint of young graduates and researchers. She hopes to promote cooperation and research on migration, and to encourage reflection on the challenge of a social and interdependent Europe.
