Saskia Brechenmacher is an Associate in the Democracy and Rule of Law Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where her research focuses on civil society and democratic reform processes in conflict-affected and semi-authoritarian states. Originally from Germany, Saskia lived in France for most of her childhood and spent the last two years of high school in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina, at a school focused on post-conflict reconciliation in the Balkans. From 2012-2014, she worked as a research assistant on democracy and human rights issues at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C. and in Brussels. She holds a BA with honors from Brown University and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
