Yasmeen Akhtar is founding joint Chief-Executive of TrustLab, a cutting-edge consultancy helping organisations to develop courageous approaches to inclusive leadership. Their work is systemic, innovative, and takes a social justice lens to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She holds a BA Honours in Law from the University of Westminster Law School, London and has just spent a year in Berlin in 2019 acting as the first Executive Director of the Alexander Haus in Groß Glienicke, Potsdam. Alexander Haus is a centre for education and reconciliation, bringing people together for dialogue and transformation in local communities, and from around the world. While Yasmeen was born in Kashmir, she grew up in the UK where her family has been settled since the early 60’s. Yasmeen has cemented her reputation as a leader in the fields of Interfaith, Dialogue, and Social Cohesion, and has established this work in the UK, US, the Middle East and in Europe.

Yasmeen is now focused on developing new approaches to building equitable workplaces through innovative approaches to inclusion. She is working with senior leaders to unpack and address the ways in which deep rooted patterns of power and systemic oppression show up in their strategies, operations, and cultures. Yasmeen is passionate about supporting working class women with migration histories to progress in their work and lives, she is a Board Member of the Muslim Women Connect group in the UK, a mentoring network. Yasmeen also co-leads the Social Justice Collective, a network of senior non-binary and female people of colour consultants working in the Equalities field.
