Dr. Sinan Çankaya is a writer and social scientist. He specializes in topics, such as human rights, diversity, racism and racial profiling. Sinan wrote his dissertation on diversity within the Dutch police forces (Buiten veiliger dan binnen, 2011), after which he examined racial profiling (De controle van Marsmannetjes en ander Schorriemorrie, 2012). Sinan has been a part of the Humanity in Action The Netherlands board since 2017. Currently, Sinan is employed as assistant professor at the VU University of Amsterdam, and writes a monthly column for De Correspondent.
