Article

Born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL, Kevin studies Political Science and Human Rights at Duke University, focusing on the intersection between urban development and social justice. In his academics, Kevin has traveled to five continents and more than 30 cities around the world studying how neoliberal capitalism shapes urban environments. Motivated by personal experiences with housing insecurity, Kevin was a community organizer with the Durham Community Land Trustees, where he helped organize more than 600 residents to win $750,000 from city leadership for the renovations of 54 properties. A PPIA Fellow, Kevin helped push Duke to Ban the Box and implement other reforms through his involvement in campus advocacy groups. In the future, Kevin plans to champion structural economic change back home in St. Petersburg and Florida as an elected official. In his spare time, he enjoys drumming, distance running, and swing dancing.
