Katerina Oikonomakou

Katerina Oikonomakou is a former staff member who started her engagement with Humanity in Action in 2013. She cooperated with international staff on Humanity in Action’s outreach to Greece, particularly the study trip to Athens. Katerina is the initiator and author of the berlininterviews.com which features interviews with artists and authors. She has worked for many years as a journalist for the Greek daily press. For many years she was deputy editor-in-chief of the Greek edition of Marie Claire magazine. She is a member of the editorial team of the Greek monthly book review “The Books’ Journal”. Along with her journalism work, she has been active in the area of arts administration. Between 2010 and 2012, she was project manager and coordinator of the “Talks and Thoughts” Program of the Onassis Cultural Center in Athens. The program featured 20 – 25 public lectures annually, with noted international intellectuals on current affairs and contemporary culture. She came to Berlin in 2011, as a European Journalism Fellow, at the Free University, in order to research the life of the Greek-Jewish cantor and Holocaust survivor Estrongo Nachama. Katerina splits her time between Berlin and Athens.
