Jamila was born and raised in Amsterdam, but her parents were born in Morocco. So that makes her Dutch Moroccan. She is the second of 8, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She has a Bachelor in Business Economics and a Master in Strategy, Communication and Organizational Science. During her studies, she did some volunteering work at a youth organization and at an Institute for political participation. Since June of 2008 she is the vice- president of FNV Young, which is the youth network of FNV. FNV is the Dutch federation of trade-unions.
