Hans Schepers (1990) graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. His research focused on the ways in which scientific research shapes reality, just like other forms of politics.
He has experience organizing public discussions about topical societal issues, such as institutional racism and achievement pressure in the 21st century. He is also a co-editor of a website facilitating discussions about the future of the university, where he is working on an edition about why university curricula are so white and exclusionary.
He is participating in the Athens trip to temper his naive faith in public institutions with the realism of practical civil-society activism, and because Athens is the focal point of several larger European developments that extend beyond Greece’s borders.
Previously, Hans studied in the United States and worked in the US Congress. Against his better judgment, he wants to go back: he is currently trying to find work in public service, his first step on a long road to becoming White House Chief of Staff. His guiding principle is: keep your dreams small.
Hans enjoys speechwriting and intersectional feminism. He dislikes talking about himself in the third person.
