Austin Wu is currently a Public Health Advisor with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in a field assignment focused on public health policy and law with the Minnesota Department of Health in Saint Paul.

Previously, he contributed to research at the University of British Columbia School of Population and Public Health on institutional, political, organizational, and governance factors influencing governments’ responses to pandemics, as well as research and advocacy on road safety policy for the League of American Bicyclists, particularly on the impact of vehicular speeds on bicyclist and pedestrian safety.

A past member of the Iowa City Historic Preservation Commission, he has also written extensively for a variety of publications in the United States and the state of Iowa, including The Gazette and the Iowa City Press-Citizen, about local history, transportation, land use, and urban design. He received both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Health from the University of Iowa College of Public Health, with the latter specialized in policy.
