After her mother fled the Bosnian War in the 1990s, Ajla was born and raised in Heidelberg, Germany. However, she always viewed Sarajevo as her second home. She is currently pursuing a BA in Political Science and French at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. Ajla is fluent in German, English, French and Bosnian and currently learning Spanish. She is part of her university’s Model United Nations student initiative (MainMUN) and recently joined the German United Nations Association (DGVN) as a “teamer” to introduce the work and functions of the United Nations to high school students and show them the importance of political commitment and international diplomacy. During her studies, Ajla has focused on democracy and democratization in the former Yugoslav countries and hopes to work in this field later. She is also interested in German history, Jewish history and culture as well as human and minority rights.
