Programs with Participants from France

Humanity in Action will be recruiting two participants from France for the Fellowships in Copenhagen and Sarajevo, which take place from June 8 to July 8, 2018.

About

Intensive and demanding, the Humanity in Action Fellowships bring together international groups of carefully selected students and recent graduates who share a high potential and a genuine committment to shape pluralism in their communities, and in society at large. Fellows meet with dozens of renowned advocates, activists, artists, policymakers, and scholars to explore the histories of discrimination and resistance of the contexts within the Fellowships take place. Collectively, they reflect upon how these histories translate into contemporary minority rights issues and how they relate to present-day human rights challenges related to pluralism. Fellows experience spaces and places that represent specific aspects of remembrance culture, collective identity, policy, and activism, which have had local, regional, or national impacts. Learn more about the programs here.

The objective of the Humanity in Action Fellowship programs is to facilitate a collective exploration of the social and political roots of discrimination as well as to provide a forum where potential solutions to some of today's most challenging human rights issues can be considered and discussed. The programs are intended to instill a responsibility among Humanity in Action Fellows to recognize and address the need to protect minorities and to uphold human rights. They are the gateway to the Humanity in Action alumni network, consisting of over 1,700 emerging and established human rights leaders with a strong committment to social justice.

Eligibility

Students, recent graduates, and young professionals who are from or based in France are welcome to apply. Successful applicants will be open-minded, widely interested, willing to challenge their own assumptions and biases and to take over societal responsibility, and be committed to human rights, pluralism, and active citizenship. Please check our Eligibility Criteria for more detailed information about our eligibility criteria and the selection process.

Obligations and Opportunities

The Humanity in Action Fellowships last one month, but their impact on the lives of Fellows and their communities lasts much longer. Humanity in Action has an active alumni network and offers a range of educational, professional, and financial opportunities to its Senior Fellows.

Prior to the Fellowship, selected Fellows are required to engage with a selection of readings. During the Fellowship, full-time committment is expected from all Fellows. After the Fellowship, our Fellows complete an Action Project in their own community. Please take a look at the Obligations and Opportunities section for more detailed information on what we ask for and what we offer.

Deadline to Apply

The deadline to apply from France for all Humanity in Action summer Fellowships was February 25, 2018.
