In the News: Washington Leads John Lewis Fellows on a Human Rights Adventure

Georgia State University reported on the success of the 2017 John Lewis Fellowship program, which was lead by its own law professor Dr. Tanya Washington. Georgia State University was also the place of residence for the Fellows during their four weeks in Atlanta.

“‘Humanity in Action intentionally created an incredibly diverse group of fellows, in terms of faith, in terms of race, in terms of ethnicity, class, gender and sexual orientation. We wanted people of different races from Europe and from across the United States,’ [Washington] said. ‘I was excited because I knew by creating such a heterogenous learning environment would, as the U.S. Supreme Court observed in its landmark affirmative action decison Grutter v. Bollinger, inspire higher order thinking and analysis.'”
