Landecker Democracy Fellow Dr. Asha Shajahan has recently written an op-ed, titled “Letter To An Indian Healthcare Hero From A US Doctor.” In this letter, Asha expresses her sympathy and support to all medical workers in India, bringing in her own experiences as a doctor in the United States. She writes, “Dear Indian Healthcare Hero, keep going. You’ll make it through and know an army of white coats around the world stands by you.”

Asha is one of thirty Landecker Democracy Fellows. This Fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
