Details

Article

Senior Landecker Fellow Asha Shajahan was a guest on FOX 2 Detroit to discuss ways to help children and families exposed to traumatic events such as school shootings.

Following the death of four students during the Michigan mass shooting on November 30, 2021, Asha along with Dr. Sarah Kiperman explained how to approach relatives dealing with fear and grief following traumatic experiences.

For Asha, there are several warning signs that can tell us if children need professional support following trauma. These can be signals such as lack of sleep, avoidance, excessive worrying, nightmares or physical symptoms like headaches.
