Article

Landecker Democracy Fellow Asha Iman Veal has joined forces with the 6018 North experimental arts and culture space in Chicago, where her new exhibition titled RAISIN will take place this fall. This exhibition is a partner project of the Chicago Architecture Biennial 2021 and will feature over 30 tremendous artists.

Aside from the exhibition itself, Asha is organizing several accompanying events. One of such events is the Artist Intervention with Cog•Nate Collective. On September 18, 32 photo prints of food cans will be available for purchase as part of the RAISIN exhibition. Each can will be available at the same price of an actual can in the California Supermarket (Calexico, CA).

“The fund from this print will be used an actual purchase of the pictured can, and will be driven across the border as a donation to the Hotel del Migrante shelter for recently deported migrants in Mexicali, Baja California Mexico,” the program explains.

More information about the event is here.
