On June 8, the doors of the Jewish Museum in Amsterdam opened with a new exhibition titled ‘Are Jews white?’.

The exhibition is co-curated by Landecker Fellow Lievnath Faber, guest curator Gideon Querido Van Frank and actress Anousha Nzume, for the Joods Historical Museum. According to Lievnath, the exhibition explores “where Jews find themselves in the identity politics spectrum of Black and White, and how that impacts the way in which Jews move through the intersectional emancipation movements in the Netherlands.”

The exhibition will be open until August 1, 2021. More information can be found on the museum’s website.

You can read more about the exhibition in Dutch here.

Lievnath is one of thirty Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
