Landecker Fellow Asha Shajahan wrote an opinion piece for the Detroit News, explaining her thought process behind getting the new COVID-19 vaccine. Since its expedited approval, vaccines have been rolling out to front line workers. However, despite the FDA’s comprehensive review process, there are still hesitations about the vaccine. Part of this is due to the politicization of medicine and the rapid spread of misinformation. In this op-ed, Asha describes her reasoning and encourages people to learn about misinformation and to reach out to experts.
