Senior Fellow Miriam Yosef participated in the Jewish Women Empowerment Summit and was subsequently mentioned in an article entitled “Beim Jewish Women Empowerment Summit wurde über Intersektionalität diskutiert” for Jüdische Allgemeine.

In September 2021, women from ages of 18 to 25 were invited to the Jewish Women Empowerment Summit in Frankfurt. The aim of the summit was to discuss the connection between Jewish women and intersectionality. More specifically, the way young Jewish women experience becoming politicized with Jewish or feminist positions within politics and the media.

Amongst the dialogues developed at the summit, the article mentions Miriam’s discussion on the lack of Jewish perspectives within intersectional spaces. In it, Eugen Le outlines Miriam’s emphasizes on the limitations of perceiving anti-Semitism through the concept of racism.

“Hatred of Jews is an ideology in its own right – we cannot understand anti-Semitism if we only perceive it as racism.”
