Farah Abdi at the IDAHOT Forum 2022

In May 2022, the government of Cyprus together with the UK government organized the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) Forum in Limassol, Cyprus.

Landecker Fellow Farah Abdi was invited to be one of the speakers at the event. Within the panel about LGBTQI+ asylum seekers and refugees, Farah focused on the challenges that Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming asylum seekers from 3rd countries face in Europe, and how member states can resolve those challenges.

Farah is one of thirty 2021-2022 Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
