Landecker Senior Fellow and Doctoral Researcher Erica Dorn recently wrote an opinion piece published by the Brookings Institution.
The Op-Ed is titled “How Aurora, Colorado is using mobile ‘public spaces’ to address the challenges of suburban social service delivery” and was published as part of the Bass Center Placemaking Postcard series.
Using the example of the very diverse Aurora, Erica explains that it is crucial to expand mobile offerings to new residents. However, looking ahead, “suburbs must invest in infrastructure, economic development, and placemaking that build true communities for new and old residents alike,” Erica claims.
Erica is one of thirty 2020-2021 Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
