Humanity in Action convened Fellows and Senior Fellows for a special Video Keynote discussion on the Tea Party, Trumpism and political division in the United States with author Arlie Russell Hochschild on September 11, 2017. Hochschild is author of "Strangers in Their Own Lands," a celebrated book about the Tea Party and economic and cutural anixeity in Louisiana.

Humanity in Action is pleased to share the video recording of the discussion. To view the video, please click the image below.

Subtitled “Anger and Mourning on the American Right,” Hochschild explores the Tea Party in Louisiana and the deep divisions in American society. Published just before the 2016 election, Hochschild’s insights were more relevant than ever, especially since she had just returned from a 10 day trip to Louisiana – back to her source. After witnessing such volatile events over the past few months, the Humanity in Action Network was eager to speak with experts, such as Hochschild, who could help Fellows and Senior Fellows today's political and cutlural challenge.
