International Conference in Berlin Sold Out!

May 11, 2017 — The response from the Humanity in Action Network to our International Conference in Berlin has been amazing and overwhelming. The conference is currently at full capacity. We have therefore been forced to close registration and have opened a waitlist.

Fellows and Senior Fellows who have already registered to attend can still reserve accommodations but please reserve your room now. Humanity in Action has reserved double and single rooms for a discounted rate for three-night stays (June 22-25) at A&O Hotel Hauptbahnhof. Arrival/Departure Details

The conference will open with keynote addresses in the afternoon of Thursday, June 22, followed by a Senior Fellow dinner. The conference will formally end on the night of Saturday, June 24. Several informal and internal gatherings are scheduled for Sunday, June 25. If your plans have changed and you are no longer able to participate in the Berlin Conference, please contact us immediately at, so that we may offer your ticket to someone on the waitlist.

Travel Stipends

Travel stipends are still available for registered participants. Humanity in Action will cover up to 50% of the cost of your travel to Berlin, with a maximum level of support of 100 Euros for those traveling from a European country and 200 Euros for those traveling from the United States and elsewhere. We have a limited number of stipends, so we suggest you request them early. The deadline to submit your travel stipend request is June 1. Please click here to submit a travel stipend request. 

About the International Conference

The 2017 International Conference will explore the rise in nationalist sentiment, xenophobic rhetoric and political extremism across Europe and the United States, and the resultant challenges to transatlantic relations and domestic policies on both sides of the Atlantic. The conference will take place at the Pfefferberg Theater, in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. 

The conference will include keynotes, discussions and workshops with leading European and international experts. It will also feature the annual Senior Fellow Reunion Dinner, skills training sessions, networking opportunities and tours within Berlin. The conference will take place from June 22 - June 25, 2017.
