The third installment of the Gender & Identity in the Global South series focuses on the transgender community in Pakistan. The story of transgender communities in Pakistan goes back in history where at one time they were highly visible respected part of Pakistan’ society however the situation has changed remarkably since then. Despite officially gaining official gender status in 2009 the transgender community continues to face issues of discrimination, social stigma and exclusion which leads to deprived socio-economic status.
