Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Fellows' Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site or virtual Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice. Landecker Democracy Fellow Reshma Persaud is a Manager of Principal Giving at the International Rescue Committee. In support of activism through art, Reshma and SQWM will host an exhibition highlighting immigrant communities, families, or/and anonymous GBV survivors for them to "Tell their Stories Through Art" either virtually or in-person.

Basic programming educational workshops for students of the "Home for Children without Parental Care Bjelave" in Sarajevo.

Guidelines for Family Reunification Procedures
This action project addressed the lack of support for children seeking family reunification. The project educated social workers on the family reunification procedure and created guidelines on how to fill out the forms accurately.

What Starts Here: Wisdom From Texas Law Faculty
Senior Fellow Ashley Berry organized a lecture series at her law school that challenged students to think beyond case law and examine how they relate to those around them and their community by addressing mental health issues.

Training future mental health professionals on LGBTQI+ psychology and SOGI issues
Andreana's project aimed to sensitize young academics on SOGI issues and bring forward the updated guidelines on de-pathologizing persons belonging to the broader LGBTQI+ community.
