Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Fellows' Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice.
Short Film: 'Thin Ice'
‘Thin Ice’ is a short film about the growing fear of attacks in the Netherlands. The film addresses islamophobia and aims to discuss the implications and consequences of our fear of terrorist attacks.
Path to Asylum
Senior Fellow Rachel Salcedo and Daniel McElroy designed a virtual experience, Path to Asylum, as an online resource simulating the experience of seeking asylum in the U.S. and providing context on that nuances of the subject to users.
Stories of Womanhood
Stories of Womanhood, an initiative by Senior Fellows Sharona Badloe and Sophia Blijden, aims to show the power of a personal story. After the first edition of Stories of Womanhood in Amsterdam, it evolved into a complete series that connects and empowers women in finding their own voice.
Hospitality Initiative (Inicjatywa Gośc-inność)
Humanity in Action Senior Fellow Nina Lazarcyzk created educational cooking workshops called Hospitality Workshops (GośćInność) dedicated for the youth, run by migrants and refugees in order to bring people together.
Flight and Migration, Societies in Transition
A project seeking to reach out the migration issue from a closer perspective, and to interrelate the newcomers with forums and seminars on the topic.
Definitely Family: Cross-border Families
Senior Fellow Merel de Herder started her Action Project in the summer of 2017. She and her father left the Netherlands for Tajikistan by car. Their goal was to meet families along the way to find out who they saw as an indispensable part of their family.
A Listening Experiment / Ein Zu(g)hör-Experiment: Berlin-Wrocław-Berlin
After participating in an active listening experiment, Senior Fellows Claire Luzia Leifert and Levke Burfeind were inspired to co-organize their own Active Listening workshop and Free Listening Flashmob in the market square of Wrocław, Poland.
Det Turkise Telt ("The Turquoise Tent")
Det turkise telt’ is a Danish-Turkish arts and music festival that takes place annually during Aarhus Festuge, created by Senior Fellow Cagdas Citirikkaya.
