Bio:

Born and raised in Texas, Bethany graduated in May 2013 from Centre College with a double major in Government and Spanish. She has studied and volunteered throughout Latin America, including a delegation with the nonprofit Witness for Peace, investigating the implementation of the Labor Action Plan corollary to the U.S. – Colombia Free Trade Agreement. At home, Bethany has volunteered at citizenship and deferred action clinics, mentoring immigrant children, and raising awareness about the effects of current immigration policy. As a leader in CentrePeace, a social justice group at Centre College, she organized a demonstration raising awareness about human trafficking, as well as events supporting a group of injured workers in Bogota. After working as an English teacher in rural Costa Rica for 9 months and completing the HIA Fellowship in Denmark, Bethany returned to Dallas and became involved in the immigrant rights community. Bethany now works as an Immigration Policy Researcher and Organizer at Grassroots Leadership in Austin, Texas.
