The 2011 International Conference, "Towards More Just Societies: Learning from History," was held from June 30 to July 3 at the Bertelsmann Foundation in Berlin, Germany.

More than 200 HIA Fellows, Senior Fellows, Board members and distinguished guests gathered for interdisciplinary lectures, skills-building workshops and interactive discussion groups with leading speakers from around the world.

Among its highlights, the conference included a special keynote conversation, "Could the Arab Spring Bring a Transatlantic Fall?" and presentations by Srdja Popovic of CANVAS, Steve Crawshaw of Amnesty International, Dr. Nivideta Prasad of the Ban Ying Counselling Center, Anne-Juliette Hermant of AXA and many more experts in the fields of diversity, foreign affairs, social entrepreneuership and human rights.
