In June and July 2009, HIA Senior Fellow Beth Rossi led a participatory photography project with 22 at-risk youth in the Cambodian province of Battambang as part of her internship with Legal Aid of Cambodia (LAC). LAC is a Cambodian-run NGO that provides free legal services to poor people in civil and criminal cases and conducts human rights outreach and education in the provinces.

On October 23rd, 2009, 40 junior Kienbaum Consultants and 40 youngsters from Berlin street soccer groups met for a day long indoor soccer tournament combined with a circuit training on applying for an apprenticeship.

On July 18th, the Guardian published a short but powerful article by HIA Senior Fellow Kanishk Tharoor, addressing the current political row between the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, who advocates paying reparations to Indian rape victims, and Rita Buhugana Joshi, a politician who publicly slandered the minister's agenda.
