Brief Description

Location: Berlin
Date: March 6-12, 2011

This workshop will focus on the 1989 regime changes in Europe and other political transitions of the late 80's. The first two days of the workshop will include field trips, discussions, and testimony from eyewitnesses and experts.

Over days three and four, attendees will participate in a simulation game centered around a fictitious country in the throes of political upheaval and regime change. This society's dominant interest groups must come together to negotiate a course of action that is acceptable to all. As a participant in the game, you will be asked to represent one of these interest groups.

The final day will focus on evaluating and discussing the core ideas of the workshop, as well as developing strategies for implementing similar programs in the participants' home communities.

Eligibility

The workshop is open to all applicants with a permanent residency in one of the EU member states, plus Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Turkey. The deadline is Nov. 1, 2010.
