Our Impact

HIA has a long-term vision of change.  Our approach focuses on engaging emerging leaders who are active in their communities today—but whose greatest potential may be years away.

To test our impact, both short- and long-term, HIA partnered with a team of consultants at the Stern School of Business at New York University.  Working together, we developed a survey for HIA Senior Fellows, the alumni of our programs.  The questions explored the impact of HIA programs on our Senior Fellows, as well as the impact of our Senior Fellows on their communities.

The responses are presented in the first HIA Impact Study, offering statistics and case studies that demonstrate the impact that HIA can show today and hint towards the future promise of the HIA community.


Key Findings
    DiscoverHIA works with students and young professionals who are changemakers in their societies. 73% of Senior Fellows are working in a field related to human rights of social justice. 
 
    InspireHIA inspires its community of Fellows to be active and engaged citizens. 77% of Senior Fellows say HIA has introduced them to new ways they can act on human rights and social justice issues.
 
    DevelopHIA provides formative professional experiences in diverse fields of public interest. 57% of Fellows have received a professional opportunity because of HIA.
